Safety & Compliance Manager

Client Description:

Adecco is hiring for this client, seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Compliance Manager to lead the airline's safety initiatives and ensure compliance with national and international aviation regulations. A primary focus will be successfully guiding the airline through the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) process. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of aviation safety standards, regulations, and best practices, along with the ability to cultivate a strong culture of safety and compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities:

• IOSA Preparation and Certification:

o Lead the airline’s efforts to obtain and maintain the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification.

o Develop and implement a comprehensive IOSA preparation plan, including gap analysis, corrective action plans, and coordination with internal departments.

o Liaise with IATA and relevant authorities to ensure all audit requirements are met.

• Safety Management System (SMS):

o Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).

o Monitor safety performance and ensure the effective reporting, investigation, and analysis of safety-related incidents and accidents.

o Facilitate safety risk assessments and ensure that risk mitigation measures are implemented effectively.

• Regulatory Compliance:

o Ensure compliance with national and international aviation regulations, including EASA, ICAO, and Romanian Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) requirements.

o Monitor regulatory changes and advise senior management on necessary adjustments to company policies and procedures.

o Conduct regular internal audits to verify compliance with regulatory and IOSA standards.

• Policy and Procedure Development:

o Develop, review, and update safety and compliance policies, procedures, and manuals in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

o Ensure that safety and compliance documentation is up-to-date and accessible to all relevant personnel.

• Training and Awareness:

o Develop and oversee safety and compliance training programs for all relevant staff.

o Promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization through awareness campaigns and regular communication.

• Incident and Emergency Response:

o Manage the airline's emergency response plan (ERP) and ensure preparedness for crisis situations.

o Lead investigations into safety incidents, identify root causes, and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.

• Stakeholder Liaison:

o Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, auditors, and other external stakeholders concerning safety and compliance matters.

o Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment of safety and compliance objectives.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Safety Management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation safety and compliance, preferably within an airline environment.

• In-depth knowledge of IOSA standards, ICAO, EASA, and RCAA regulations.

• Proven experience in managing IOSA preparation and certification processes.

• Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and safety risk management principles.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse teams.

• Proficiency in English is required; Romanian language skills are highly desirable.
